Product Description

Fuel filters are divided into three categories: gasoline filters, diesel filters and gas filters. Their function is to filter out solid debris (iron oxide, dust, etc.) from the fuel, prevent blockages in the fuel system (especially in the injector nozzles), reduce mechanical wear and ensure stable engine operation. In addition, the fuel filter also filters water to reduce the amount of water in the fuel entering the engine and causing fatal damage to the engine.


Gasoline Filter

The Gasoline Filter is available as a carburettor or EFI type, or as an external if it is installed in the fuel line.

   


For petrol engines with carburettors, the Gasoline Filter is located on the inlet side of the fuel pump, where the working pressure is low, and is generally made of plastic, while for EFI engines, the Gasoline Filter is located on the outlet side of the fuel pump, where the working pressure is high, and is usually made of metal or aluminium, but also partly of plastic. Some of them are made of nylon cloth, polymer material, etc.


Internal filters are filters that are installed inside the fuel pump and fuel tank. The fuel tank is usually located between the rear occupant foot space area and the rear axle and is protected from collisions. The fuel tank contains an electric fuel pump which draws fuel from the fuel tank, which is filtered through the filter and always supplies the engine with clean fuel.

The float type rollover leak-proof valve has a pressure-holding function which seals the tank in the event of rollover and prevents fuel leakage. Two valves vent into the expansion chamber in the upper part of the tank and a labyrinth structure is used to stop liquid fuel entering the activated carbon filter. The fuel in the expansion chamber is pumped into the fuel tank by the vacuum created by the fuel cooling.



Diesel Filter

The diesel filter is roughly the same structure as the fuel filter and is available in both interchangeable and spin-on versions. However, its working pressure and fuel temperature resistance requirements are much lower than those of fuel filters, while its filtration efficiency requirements are much higher than those of fuel filters. The filter element of the diesel filter is mostly made of filter paper, but there are also felt or polymer materials.


Diesel filter can be divided into oil-water separator and diesel fine filter.

The important function of the fuel and water separator is to separate the water from the diesel fuel. The presence of water is extremely harmful to the diesel fuel supply system and can lead to rust, wear, seizure and even deterioration of the diesel fuel combustion process. Due to the high sulphur content of diesel in some countries, when combustion occurs, it will even react with water to produce sulphuric acid to corrode engine parts.


Diesel fine filters are used to filter the fine particles in diesel fuel. In recent years, with the increasing global environmental protection requirements for vehicle emissions, diesel engine filters need to use higher precision filter paper with a pore size of no higher than 3-5 microns.

Gas filters: These filters are mainly used for vehicles using gas as fuel and are available as high pressure, medium pressure and low pressure filters. They differ from ordinary fuel filters in that gas inevitably produces a range of impurities (including water, fuel, particles and rust spots) during the manufacturing and storage process.

1. The built-in gasoline filter housing is made of American Hostaform POM plastic housing, the tensile strength of POM physical properties of paraformaldehyde reaches 70MPa, water absorption is small, in the thermoplastic resin is a tough type, with high thermal strength, high wear resistance and excellent insulation properties.

2. The metal housing of the external fuel filter is made of high quality cold rolled sheet and is usually made of aluminium in order to be more environmentally friendly and light weight in European models.

3. The filter paper is made of Korean Ahlstrom high performance composite fibre material, which has superb mechanical properties, high strength and high elasticity. It has properties such as high temperature resistance, dimensional stability, low thermal shrinkage and high corrosion resistance. Another advantage of high performance fibres is their low density, which facilitates the lightweighting of products.

Notes

1. The operation should be done carefully and cautiously, and the site should be kept away from fire so as not to start a fire.

2. When opening the fuel tank and taking out the cartridge assembly, you will feel that there is a small amount of gasoline volatilizing and leaking in the air. At this time, cover the mouth of the fuel tank with the cover plate, and after putting back the cartridge base, immediately seal the cover plate and fasten it with screws, and check whether there is any gasoline leaking and volatilizing, and ensure that it is safe before you can test the engine with the ignition.

3. The focus and difficulty of replacing the filter element is to disassemble the base and cover of the fuel pump assembly, which should be operated with special care to prevent improper operation from damaging various parts. When taking out the fuel pump and loosening the cover of the base, do not use excessive force; hard prying will damage the base.

4. Pay special attention to the fuel pump into the new cartridge assembly, the fuel pump pressure relief valve on a small black rubber ring must be installed back on the stage, and this small rubber ring is often left in the old cartridge seat removed, if you forget this step, the car is not on the oil, can not crank up, many people can not start the engine after replacement, it is because that they didn't installed this rubber ring back.


Maintenance Tips

1. The external fuel filter is recommended to be replaced every 10,000 km, while the internal fuel filter is recommended to be replaced every 40,000-80,000 km.

2. For major maintenance, the fuel filter, oil, oil filter, air filter and air conditioning filter can be replaced at the same time.

3. Fuel filter disassembly and replacement is complicated, it is recommended not to replace it by yourself, go to a professional place by professional personnel.
